I cannot play with the finesse of the Menahan Street Band. I cannot sing with an iota of the soul of Charles Bradley. I love these songs and I hope they will speak to those that hear them. I recorded these covers as a means to generate donations to Assata's Daughters in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, and in an effort to help end police brutality. Assata's Daughters is a Black woman-led, young person organization in Chicago that works to sustain the movement for Black liberation.
All profits will be donated.
If we understand the heartaches and pain of others, its easy to see why our world is going up in flames.
